If you have sensitive skin, use an unscented shaving product
We regularly speak to customers who suffer from annoying and persistent razor burns. People usually have sensitive or dry skin and irritations after shaving. You should think of dry, chapped, tight skin or red burning spots. As we have said before, you can reduce or prevent many irritations by shaving differently, or switching to the safety razor and/or using an unscented shaving product. Many skin irritations are caused by the added fragrance or perfume ingredients in shaving foam, shaving soap and after shave balm. Well, we love fragrances and that is why manufacturers put fragrance ingredients in their care products. But if you suffer a lot from razor burn, our advice is: 'The more boring, the better'.
Because it is always uncertain what exactly is the cause of your shaving irritation, it is best to start with an unscented to neutral shaving product. If, after a few weeks of use, you notice that the irritations are less or have disappeared completely, you can always use a similar shaving product with a fragrance in it.
It is of course always your own choice, but it is of no use to you if you are smooth and smell nice after shaving, but then walk around with skin irritations all day long.
