We have once again been digging through our sales database. This time we looked at what are the most popular after shave balms. The list below of this Top 5 is based on the sales data from the period 2018 to 2020 of our NL webshop for the Netherlands and Belgium.
Why should you use an after shave balm?
A good balm gives the skin peace and restores it a little bit. A balm absorbs the skin, nourishes the skin and makes it feel comfortable. If you suffer from dry skin after shaving, it is nice to use a balm. In winter we have to deal with cold, dry air. If you work outside a lot, you may be more likely to suffer from dry skin. After shaving you will have dry, chapped skin and an annoying tight feeling. A little bit of balm prevents this.
Unlike an old-fashioned after shave splash, a balm does not contain alcohol. A balm contains various nourishing, skin-repairing and moisturizing ingredients, such as: Argan oil, Allantoin, Aloe Vera extracts, Jojoba oil and calendula. Many balms are lightly scented. Some after shave products are virtually neutral to unscented.
Many of our customers swear by an after shave balm because it feels nice and comfortable after shaving. It is a standard part of wet shaving for many men. Because the emulsion is well absorbed by the skin, it does not feel greasy in many cases. Finally, if the scent of the balm matches the shaving soap, shaving becomes a 'little party' in the morning.

Because this balm is virtually neutral and contains very few fragrance ingredients, it is ideal for sensitive skin. It contains, among other things, green tea and oat extracts. These ingredients stimulate the skin's healing effect and have a soothing and moisturizing effect.
3. Baume.be after shave balm
The reason for developing the Baume.be after shave balm was very explainable. The Belgian Karl Indigne has very sensitive skin. His skin is highly allergic to various ingredients in after shave products. When his favorite aftershave balm was no longer sold 10 years ago, he started developing his own balm. 5 Truefitt and Hill sandalwood after shave balm
Once you have used the sandalwood shaving cream and after shave balm from this beautiful classic English shaving brand, you will want to use nothing more. The sandalwood fragrance line from Truefitt and Hill is immensely popular. Although this balm is quite pricey compared to previous products, it is a very popular balm.
The sandalwood scent of Truefitt and Hill sandalwood after shave balm is warm and fresh at the same time. It is a recognizable classic men's fragrance with base notes of sandalwood, tonka and cedarwood, combined with lavender, thyme and jasmine. The top notes are subtle fruity notes of pineapple, melon, lemon and bergamot.
The added lanolin and Aloe Vera extracts care for, soften and hydrate the freshly shaved skin.
