Why are unscented shaving products better for your skin?

Just like many care products, shaving products are also perfumed. On our webshop, you will find a variety of shaving soaps and shaving creams with the most exotic and exciting scents. There is a fragrance available for every nose.

We regularly speak with customers who have sensitive skin and are allergic to specific fragrances. These can be unpleasant allergic skin irritations, such as red spots or a burning sensation. Usually, these irritations occur immediately after use, sometimes only after a few days. In this case, shaving is a torment. You can imagine that shaving with the razor over irritated skin is no fun.

Shaving products with and without fragrances

What exactly are those fragrance ingredients? In many cases, they are synthetic composite fragrances. The manufacturer buys these ingredients or produces them themselves. A small amount is often enough to give the shaving product its own scent. The manufacturer is legally required to mention this on the label as an ingredient. Often you will see "Parfum" or "Fragrance" on the label.

With some artisanal brands, such as Meissner Tremonia and Biolijf, no ready-made fragrances are used. These products are therefore not perfumed. The scent of the shaving soap or after shave balm comes from the added essential oils. So they are not synthetic composite fragrance ingredients. If you add pure natural lavender oil to shaving cream, this shaving cream naturally smells like lavender. Or if you add mint oil to the after shave balm, this balm has a mint scent.

But what if you hate scents? Or if you are hypersensitive to added perfume or fragrance ingredients? Perhaps you are allergic to various (synthetic) fragrance substances? Then you often have a problem with regular shaving products in retail. Fortunately, you have no problem with us. Because we also sell many neutral unscented to lightly scented care and shaving products.
