What are the differences between men's and women's skin?
- Men have a thinner subcutaneous fat layer.
- Men's skin may be more likely to react to, or be more sensitive to, certain substances in skin care products.
- The horny layer of men's skin is thicker: about 24% thicker than women's skin.
- Men's skin pH is on average 6.5. Thus, the skin is slightly more neutral than women's skin. Because of this, the skin is more vulnerable.
- The pores of men's skin are larger. As a result, the risk of pollution and clogging is slightly higher.
- Men's skin has higher fat production. As a result, there is more chance of acne.
- Men sweat more. Men's skin is often very dehydrated. As a result, there is more chance of drying out the skin.
- The structure of the subcutaneous connective tissue is more rigid in men. This eventually causes deeper wrinkles.

Why do I need to cleanse my face properly? And when is the best time to do this?
- Cleansing the skin prepares it for shaving: the beard hairs soften and dead skin cells are removed. This makes shaving go more smoothly.
- The best time to cleanse the face is in the morning before shaving.
- Always use lukewarm water rather than hot water for cleansing.
- It is best to cleanse your skin with a pH-neutral cleansing gel.
- Do you suffer from sensitive or dry skin? Then always use a mild or unscented cleansing gel instead of ordinary soap.

I regularly use an exfoliating gel. How often should I use it?
- Scrubbing is done with a scrub cream or scrub gel that contains fine grains. Gently massage the exfoliating gel onto damp facial skin. The beads remove dead skin cells and clean the skin. Your skin will look healthier as a result.
- An added benefit of exfoliating is that it helps prevent ingrown hairs.
- Scrub at most once a week.
- Never scrub right before or after shaving. Scrubbing and shaving at the same time can lead to skin and shaving irritations.
- If you have sensitive skin, it's best not to scrub.

I have sensitive or easily irritated skin. What is best to use?
Sensitive skin is often hypersensitive and tolerates only a few specific shaving and skin care products.
When cleansing, avoid any "harsh" product, such as soaps and skincare products containing alcohol.
Also, use unscented, hypoallergenic and paraben-free products as much as possible.
Below are some helpful shaving and skin care tips:
- Don't shave too often. Instead of daily, shave every two to three days.
- Cleanse the face with a mild cleansing gel. Do not use ordinary soap.
- Always clean with lukewarm water instead of hot water.
- Always shave with a clean and sharp razor. Replace razor blades on time.
- Shave with a safety razor (safety razor) or a modern two- or three-blade razor (Gillette Mach3) instead of a modern five-blade razor (Gillette Fusion or ProGlide).
- Before shaving, apply an unscented pre shave oil/gel to the shaving area. Pre shave provides an extra buffer between razor and skin.
- Use only an unscented and paraben-free shaving cream, shaving soap, shaving gel or ready-to-use shaving foam.
- Apply shaving cream or soap using a shaving brush with soft synthetic bristles. Synthetic bristles are more hygienic to use than badger and hog bristles.
- Always allow the shaving cream to soak in for one minute. This softens the beard hairs and makes shaving smoother.
- Always shave along with the beard hairs. Do not shave against the beard hairs.
- Take your time. Shave with gentle movements.
- Pat skin dry with a clean towel after shaving.
- Soothe the skin after shaving with an unscented after shave balm.
- Do not use scented and alcoholic after shave lotions or eau de toilette.
- Also, use hypoallergenic and paraben-free products as much as possible.
- If a regular after shave balm does not help, use a razor burn repair or moisturizer.
- Is the skin hypersensitive to sun? Then use a moisturizer with SPF factor (sun protection factor).
